Gastric Bypass
Those who eat more often during the day or are addicted to sweets may be most appropriate for gastric bypass surgery. In addition to reducing the size of the stomach, this procedure bypasses part of the stomach and small intestine, limiting the number of calories absorbed from food. Still other patients may be best suited by a gastric sleeve procedure, which also dramatically reduces the size of the stomach.

Realize™ Adjustable Gastric Band
Because it is minimally invasive and highly effective, the Realize™ Adjustable Gastric Band is often the ideal solution for patients of bariatric surgeon Dr. Stephen Clark. Similar in concept to the LAP-BAND® System, the Realize™ Gastric Band is fastened around the stomach during a laparoscopic procedure. The band, as with the LAP-BAND® System, is connected to an access port in the patient’s abdomen, which allows the doctor to ensure optimal weight loss for each patient. One of the greatest benefits of the Realize™ Band is that it is adjustable. By injecting or removing saline fluid from the band through an access port in the patient’s abdomen, Dr. Clark is able to tighten or loosen the band to optimally control the patient’s intake of food. Should the patient encounter any complications, become pregnant, or need to take in more food, the Realize™ Band is also removable with a laparoscopic procedure.
